What is SOAP?

No, this isn't about a bar of soap. SOAP is a Bible and journaling method that helps you structure your devotionals.

What is SOAP?

It helps you stay engaged in the word and gives you a way to get all those thoughts out of your head and onto the page. The devotional structure is split into four areas:

  1. Scripture: This can be a verse you choose yourself or the Verse of the Day. Read the verse and ask God what He wants to speak to you through it.
  2. Observation: Meditate on what God might be saying in this verse. What do you see in what you're reading? Who is the audience? Are there repeated words? What stands out to you?
  3. Application: What is God saying to me today? How can I apply what I just read to my own life? What changes do I need to make? Is there an action I need to take?
  4. Prayer: Pray about God's Word. If He has revealed something to you during this time, pray about it.

This devotional method is a great way to meditate on Scripture and grow your relationship with God. It helps you interact with God's word so you can discover life principles and truths for your daily walk with Him. The most important part of this method is your personal interaction with God and His Word.
